Enroll in MIIC
Providers and organization types listed in Minnesota Statutes, 144.3351 Immunization Data are eligible and encouraged to participate in the Minnesota Immunization Information Connection (MIIC) to support immunization-related activities.
Data privacy, security, and data quality are top priorities for the Minnesota Immunization Information Connection (MIIC). Organizations must complete and submit a MIIC Data Use Agreement (DUA) to enroll in MIIC, and every three years while participating, as a commitment to upholding these priorities.

If you are signing the Agreement on behalf of multiple facilities, you will be prompted to upload this facilities spreadsheet to enroll or renew enrollment in MIIC.
After submitting the electronic Data Use Agreement, you will receive a confirmation email. If you are newly enrolling, the MIIC Help Desk will contact you to confirm your enrollment and provide login information.
Uses of MIIC
MIIC-participating organizations are allowed to access MIIC records of people to whom they provide services. The MIIC DUA signed by all participating organizations allows organizations outlines the allowable and unallowable uses of MIIC, as noted below.
- Assess a person's immunization status in order to determine needed immunizations when providing the individual services.
- Issue reminder notices to people due or recommended for immunizations and recall notices to individuals past due for immunizations.
- Notify an person of a vaccine-preventable disease outbreak that may affect them.
- Produce personal immunization reports for school admission, childcare enrollment, or other processes that require an immunization history.
- Notify a person of any vaccine recalls.
- Prepare summary reports without personally identifiable information.
- Facilitate the ordering and management of state-supplied vaccine.
- Assess a person's immunization status for employment purposes. This includes verifying immunization status for employees who work for healthcare organizations or in healthcare settings unless individual services are being provided.
- Assess a person's immunization status when that person is not a patient of the accessing provider for the purpose of providing services to another patient. This includes verifying a birthing parent’s RSV immunization status for determining whether the infant requires vaccination.
- Individual consent is not sufficient to authorize an organization or provider to access immunization data for employment purposes, for providing services to another person, or for any use that is not allowed.
Next steps
As per the MIIC DUA, participating provider organizations are responsible for informing their clients of their MIIC participation. Displaying MIIC materials is one way to fulfill this responsibility. Use the Immunization Materials Order Form to order MIIC materials.
There are many ways to report data to MIIC and receive data from MIIC. Provider organizations who administer immunizations and/or receive historical immunization records are encouraged to report all data to MIIC. For more information visit How to Exchange Data with MIIC.
MIIC users can access the MIIC user interface by entering their credentials at MIIC Login. Every organization that participates in MIIC must have at least one active user account for their designated Administrator. Other staff can have MIIC login credentials if appropriate for their role.
