Provider organizations that participate in Minnesota Immunization Information Connection (MIIC) have several options to exchange data with MIIC.
Best practices for reporting data to MIIC
To ensure accurate, timely, and complete data within the MIIC application, organizations reporting immunization data are asked to follow these expectations outlined within the Data Use Agreement to Enroll in MIIC:
Submit immunization data within seven days of administration or learning of a historical immunization.
Submit site-specific immunization data. Be sure each immunization is attributed to the physical facility/site that administered it. When reporting historical immunization data, ensure each immunization is attributed to the facility that learned of the immunization.
Submit data on both newly administered immunizations and historical immunizations. Learn more on Manage Immunizations.
Submit dose-level vaccine eligibility data, indicating Minnesota Vaccines for Children (MnVFC) eligibility status for children and insurance status for adults at the vaccine dose level.
Options for exchanging data with MIIC
Provider organizations can exchange data with MIIC in three ways.
Submitting data to MIIC electronically involves sending data from your organization’s electronic health record (EHR)/source system to MIIC via an HL7 interface. This option is best for:
Provider organizations interested in automated reporting and querying.
Provider organizations with consistent IT support.
Provider organizations interested in viewing client immunization history and forecast within the source system/EHR.

MIIC offers an option to bulk report and an option to bulk query data.
Report data in bulk with the immunization spreadsheet
The MIIC immunization spreadsheet allows you to efficiently report multiple immunizations to MIIC with a single file upload.
This option should only be used when reporting 20 or more immunizations at a time and is best for provider organizations reporting on mass vaccination clinics or events.
