Video Transcript:

Next, let’s walk through the kitchen.

In this room, you are primarily looking for signs of pests, and offering recommendations on how to eliminate their source of food, water, and shelter.

In the kitchen, you need to check for:

  • food left out in the open, this includes items such as cooking grease
  • spills and crumbs on the counters, tables or floors
  • unwashed dishes, silverware or glassware
  • plumbing leaks above, below or around the sink or dishwasher
  • holes anywhere near the plumbing, and
  • consumer products such as air fresheners.

The kitchen is another room where you should check for hazardous or toxic materials that children can get into, such as pesticides or cleaning products.
