Video Transcript:
The action steps or tips you can recommend to eliminate asthma triggers in the kitchen include:
- keeping all food and cooking grease stored in sealed food containers
- kitchen counters, floors, and other surfaces should be cleaned regularly
- wash dishes promptly after use to remove any food sources for pests
- leaks under and around the sink and dishwasher need to be fixed promptly
- holes near the plumbing need to be filled with steel wool to remove any entry point for mice and rats, and
- any unnecessary consumer products, such as air fresheners, should be removed.
If toxic cleaning products and pesticides are stored under the sink, they should be stored in a secured or locked area. If that is not possible, these products should be stored in a cabinet with child-proof latches.
