Next, we will assess the living room and the family room. Approach the living and family rooms in the same way you approached the bedroom.

When you first enter the rooms, assess the general cleanliness and clutter.

Next, specifically check:

• Do the rooms look vacuumed?
• Are the rooms dusty?
• Do the pillows and fabrics need washing?
• Does the furniture need vacuuming?
• Are pets allowed on the furniture?
• Is there any food left in the rooms?
• Are there dirty dishes?
• Are there any signs of moisture?
• Are there signs of pests behind wall hangings or the wallpaper?
• Do you see or smell any consumer products such as air fresheners or candles?

Finally, check to see if portable air cleaners are being used in the room.
