The Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) is hosting their
2025 Radon Poster Contest!
If you win
Grades 4 to 6
- 1st Place - $100
- 2nd Place - $75
- 3rd Place - $50
Grades 7 to 8
- 1st Place - $100
- 2nd Place - $75
- 3rd Place - $50
The overall state winner (just one poster) goes on to the national contest. First place nationally wins $1,000!
In 2023, Brooklyn from Plymouth Middle School in Minnesota, won the national contest and $1,000!
Creating your poster
- Must be an original piece of art.
- Must communicate about the topic of radon and be accurate.
- Must be at least 8 1/2” x 11” in size, but larger is great.
- Can be created with crayons, markers, paint, colored pencil, pencil, collage, or on the computer.
- No artificial intelligence.
- Should use correct spelling.
- Only one entry per child.

- Radon can cause lung cancer.
- Test your home for radon.
- Mitigating radon in your home.
Submitting your poster
Submit your poster using Radon Poster Contest Artwork Submission Form.
Make sure photos of the poster are taken in good light.
Dates and other information
Poster contest runs through November 14th.
First, second, and third place winners will be notified by early December.
Posters will be judged on:
- Creativity
- How the topic is visually communicated
- The ability to reproduce the poster
- Originality
- Correct grammar and spelling
- Correct information on radon
