Vaccine recommendations

Prescribing information and Vaccine Information Statements (VISs) for the currently licensed HPV vaccine:

• Generic name: HPV 9-valent vaccine, recombinant
• Manufacturer: Merck
• Prescribing information: FDA: Gardasil 9
• Licensed for: 9 to 45 years of age
• Vaccine Information Statement (VIS): Immunize.org: HPV (Human Papillomavirus)

HPV vaccine is administered in either a two or three dose series depending on the patient’s age when vaccination is initiated. For additional details, refer to the immunization schedules on Immunization Information for Healthcare Providers.

• Routine vaccination: Recommended for all children and adolescents, with vaccination initiated between 9 and 12 years of age.
• Catch-up vaccination: Recommended for everyone through 26 years of age who are not adequately vaccinated.
• Adults: May be recommended for some adults 27 through 45 years of age through shared clinical decision-making.
