The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) Red Book provides information on clinical manifestations, epidemiology, infection prevention, and control measures.
Vaccine recommendations
Prescribing information and Vaccine Information Statements (VISs) for the currently licensed HPV vaccine:
- Generic name: HPV 9-valent vaccine, recombinant
- Manufacturer: Merck
- Prescribing information: FDA: Gardasil 9
- Licensed for: 9 to 45 years of age
- Vaccine Information Statement (VIS): Immunize.org: HPV (Human Papillomavirus)
HPV vaccine is administered in either a two or three dose series depending on the patient’s age when vaccination is initiated. For additional details, refer to the immunization schedules on Immunization Information for Healthcare Providers.
- Routine vaccination: Recommended for all children and adolescents, with vaccination initiated between 9 and 12 years of age.
- Catch-up vaccination: Recommended for everyone through 26 years of age who are not adequately vaccinated.
- Adults: May be recommended for some adults 27 through 45 years of age through shared clinical decision-making.
