Video Transcript:
To minimize dust mites in the living or family room, which are also typical locations for this allergen, you may want to recommend the family:
- Use washable rugs, curtains and small pillows. These items should be washed regularly in hot water.
And just like in the bedroom, recommend
- weekly vacuuming, and
- frequent damp dusting.
If these basic action steps do not help control asthma symptoms, another option to consider would include
- removing the carpet.
The Resource Section has more information on action steps to minimize exposure to dust mites.
