Reducing or eliminating environmental asthma triggers in the home is not necessarily easy.

• Home repairs can be expensive and the individual may not have the money to make the repairs.
• It can be very difficult to find a new home for a beloved pet, and
• quitting smoking is difficult for most people.

In these situations it will be necessary to work with the individual to come up with the best solutions to reduce their exposure to certain environmental triggers of asthma.

Start by keeping a pet out of the bedroom and off furniture, or by having people smoke outside.
