Video Transcript:

We’ve talked about some unwanted allergen triggers of asthma, dust mites and pests, but what do you do when assessing a home with a much wanted asthma trigger, the family pet?

Allergens from warm blooded pets such as dogs, cats, or other furry animals are common environmental triggers of asthma.

Pet allergens come from skin flakes or dander, hair, urine, and saliva.

So, during your home assessment be sure to:

  • ask the family if they have any pets, and
  • ask if the individual with asthma has any known pet allergies.
