There are specific signs that indicate a pest problem in a home. Let’s start with signs of cockroaches.
Begin by asking the family if they ever see cockroaches in their home. Because there is a stigma associated with cockroaches, the family may answer “no”even if they have a cockroach problem.
Cockroaches are often found in areas that are damp and warm, such as around:
- water heaters
- laundry areas
- bathrooms
- appliances, and
- plumbing fixtures.
Cockroaches are nocturnal, and are usually only seen at night. If you do see a cockroach during the day, it is often a sign of a heavy infestation.
Cockroach droppings, known as frass, look like black, greasy speckles and can be seen around:
- baseboards
- electrical sockets, and
- crevices in the kitchen and bathroom, exterior walls, and windows.
