Urban Mental Health Professional
The Minnesota Urban Mental Health Professional Loan Forgiveness Program cycle opens Nov. 1, 2026, to Jan. 6, 2027.
Eligible licensed health professionals: Licensed psychologist, licensed independent clinic social workers (LICSW), licensed marriage and family therapists (LMFT), licensed professional clinical counselors (LPCC), and licensed alcohol and drug counselors (LADC). Psychiatric nurse practitioners apply as advanced practice provider.
Minimum service obligation: Serve three years minimum/four years maximum in federally designated urban health professional shortage area (HPSA) or medically underserved area//population (MUA/P).
Annual repayment amount: $29,000 for psychologists; $15,000 for psychiatric NP/CNS; $11,000 for LICSW, LMFT, LPCC, LADC.
