They are commonly found in bedrooms and living rooms, specifically in:

• pillows
• mattresses
• upholstered furniture
• stuffed toys
• carpeting, and
• places where dust collects such as bookcases.

It is not possible to see dust mites with the naked eye and often impractical to test the home for dust mite allergens.
