Hemp-Derived Cannabinoid Products
The law that legalizes adult use of cannabis in Minnesota includes regulations that address the public health and safety protections for hemp-derived cannabinoid products (e.g., edible cannabinoid products) sold in the state.
The law transfers regulatory authority of these products from the Board of Pharmacy to the Office of Medical Cannabis at the Minnesota Department of Health. The Office of Medical Cannabis oversees compliance investigations. Get information about Submitting Hemp-Derived Cannabinoid Product Complaints.
Registration information for businesses
Per Minnesota statute, effective Oct. 2, 2023, all establishments (including exclusive liquor stores) that sell hemp-derived cannabinoid products must register with the State of Minnesota before they sell any hemp-derived cannabinoid product. There is no cost to register.
Not sure if you're already registered? Scroll down to the map of registered businesses to review the interactive map and a downloadable file of businesses that have registered with us.
Register before you sell! Go to the Hemp Derived Cannabinoid Products Business Registration Form. Once registration has been completed, the owner will receive a registration certificate via e-mail. This certificate contains a unique ID number and will be the proof of registration for the business. Remember to keep a copy of the email for your records.
What to do if your registration information has changed. If you have previously registered and a portion of your registration information has changed, please complete the Hemp Derived Cannabinoid Products Business Registration Change Form.
If you have questions, please email health.hempedibles@state.mn.us.
